Methodological Seminar: “Building Resilience in Children Through Therapeutic Toys”
The NGO “Genofond of the Nation” held a methodological seminar for psychologists focused on implementing the specialized PI2 (toy-assisted therapy) methodology in working with children experiencing the effects of war. The method aims to build resilience, develop adaptive behavioral strategies, and strengthen children’s psychological resilience through the use of therapeutic toys. During the seminar, participants familiarized themselves with the theoretical foundations of the methodology, received practical guidelines for working with children and parents exhibiting symptoms of traumatic stress, and practiced modern play-based techniques for psychological support. The specialists were provided with instructional materials and therapeutic tools, enabling them to integrate the methodology into their professional practice to foster emotional resilience, self-regulation, and the effective management of the consequences of psychologically traumatic events.
Art therapy project "Prayer Patterns of Ukraine"
The NGO “Genofond of the Nation” carried out the art therapy project “Prayer Patterns of Ukraine” on the grounds of the St. Sophia of Kyiv National Reserve. The event was dedicated to combining art therapy methods with the exploration of Ukrainian cultural heritage as a resource for restoring psychological resilience, strengthening national identity, and achieving inner balance. During the workshops, participants created original mandalas inspired by the ornamentation of St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv and explored the symbolism of historical patterns and their connection to cultural memory. The art therapy practice promoted self-discovery, emotional healing, the development of self-regulation skills, and an awareness of one’s own cultural identity. The program also included an introduction to the historical and cultural heritage of St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv, which allowed participants to combine psychological practice with a deeper understanding of Ukraine’s spiritual traditions.
“Artbook to Victory” Art Therapy Project
The NGO “Genofond of the Nation” implemented the art therapy project “Artbook to Victory,” aimed at providing psychological support and restoring the psycho-emotional well-being of participants through creative expression. The art book methodology creates a safe space for self-expression, helps participants acknowledge and process complex emotions, reduce internal tension, and activate personal resources. During the sessions, participants worked on creating their own artbooks, using creativity as a tool for self-discovery, emotional self-regulation, and psychological stabilization. Art therapy helped develop inner resilience, foster a sense of support within the group, and strengthen participants’ coping resources—which is particularly important amid prolonged stress and the challenges of wartime.
