Applying TF-CBT (trauma-focused therapy) techniques and protocols in the practical support of service members and veterans.
Today, a civilian mental-health specialist must be able to provide professional psychological help not only to civilians but also to active service members and veterans. The clinical support of the military differs somewhat from working with civilians.
Goal
The goal is to give mental-health specialists the theoretical knowledge and practical techniques for effective clinical work with service members and veterans. These techniques are adapted to the needs of the military and veterans, and their practical application provides a fast and long-lasting psychological effect.
Methods
The main tool is cognitive behavioral therapy with elements of trauma-focused therapy protocols. Special attention is given to second- and third-wave CBT tools, in particular ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy).
