Art therapy project "Prayer Patterns of Ukraine"
The NGO “Genofond of the Nation” carried out the art therapy project “Prayer Patterns of Ukraine” on the grounds of the St. Sophia of Kyiv National Reserve. The event was dedicated to combining art therapy methods with the exploration of Ukrainian cultural heritage as a resource for restoring psychological resilience, strengthening national identity, and achieving inner balance.
During the workshops, participants created original mandalas inspired by the ornamentation of St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv and explored the symbolism of historical patterns and their connection to cultural memory. The art therapy practice promoted self-discovery, emotional healing, the development of self-regulation skills, and an awareness of one’s own cultural identity. The program also included an introduction to the historical and cultural heritage of St. Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv, which allowed participants to combine psychological practice with a deeper understanding of Ukraine’s spiritual traditions.
